Two Day San Francisco Transit Ride
The trip for me to SF was much fun. Armed with my new RTC pass I bopped all over the city. Cathy was working 7am to midnight each day so I really didn't see her much. Sunday I attended the Forum at Grace Cathedral on the various readings of the story of Jonah in the Jewish, Christian, and Islamic tradition then traveled by bus to visit the maritime museum and on the old car ferry I got this picture of a truck onboard:
After lunch at the counter of Original Joe's I walked up the steps to Russian hill for the great views, grabbed a sandwich as LeBeau Market at Clay and Leavenworth which I ate back in the Fairmont watching the Oscars.
Next day I toured the USS Pampanito submarine which I had basically all to myself for an hour. Then I hopped onto streetcar 1074 using my Clipper card in my RTC for a trip all the way from Fisherman's wharf to the Castro where I had lunch at Cafe Flore.
Back on streetcar 1055 to VanNess and a quick stop at Lighthouse to get some drop in sunglasses then off the Aquatic park and down to the offices of the Clock of the Long Now to check out Danny Hillis' mechanical 26 bit adder.
Check out US patent #6,249,485. I almost think I understand it now because the young man at the front desk let me play with the model for about an hour.
Resting at the Fairmont I was able to get through a few more classes from Lynda.com using my Fire.
Tuesday the weather turned rainy and I headed back home by bus, train and (since the train was late and I missed my bus), cab.
And that, is what I did on my winter vacation. (rlb)
